Oak Tree Lane

The work

Oak Tree Lane is a four minute animated short film I made while I was studying animation at RMIT. I spent a lot of time writing the script trying to deliver a story with a satisfying resolution that also stretched the audience emotionally. I was inspired by oil paint on glass animation and set about using this technique in my film along with traditional hand drawn animation.

conclusion

The film was a culmination of all my artistic interests at the time. The use of mixed media to describe different emotional states was something I really wanted to explore. Developing the script created an emotional strain but it was worth it in the end as the film hit every mark I intended it to both thematically and stylistically. It was also well received by my piers and was accepted into the Melbourne International animation festival (MIAF), one of the biggest animation festivals in the southern hemisphere.
